Spring time soaps!

I have had a creative week! New soap and the house smells gorgeous. One very special soap is made from oils fro my jasmine which is blossoming right now, the whole backyard has the most beautiful scent. I gathered the blossoms and macerated them in olive oil for 3 weeks, so all the goodness and fragrance went into the oil, then made the most lovely soap out of it. Very simple, just a plain bar, but full of the most amazing ingredients like cream and vitamin E and Shea butter.

Another gorgeous soap I just made is my Morning Grapefruit bar. This is a wake-you-up soap and great for men or women, grapefruit is a scent that is loved by all.

And lastly, my rose topped soap. This is a very special absolutely lovely soap either as something gorgeous for yourself, or as a gift for someone you love. A beautiful soap filled with fresh cream and olive oil, and topped with sweet dried rosebuds.

EEEEKKKKKK!!!

Horrible shopping today which I had to do because I needed new thongs and I also needed a new bathing suit (NOT a thong). In fact, the bathing suit was a daunting task; I have a couple of problem areas.

What I was really looking for was one of these racy Victorian numbers but for some reason none of the stores had them in stock.

Maybe tomorrow or next week or next year for the bather shopping!

Jasmine is in the Air!

The Jasmine in the garden is so beautiful and the scent coming from it is heavenly.

So I have decided to pick some blossoms and macerate them in a delicate sweet Almond oil.

Then when the beautiful aroma has permeated the oil, I am going to make a gorgeous body scrub.

Friday night with the girls!

Mineral foundation - make-up often advertised as being a natural alternative to other applications - contains many of the same chemicals as liquid and powder options, consumer group Choice says.




Choice tested 14 mineral foundations and found 10 contained bismuth oxychloride, which is a by-product of lead, tin and copper refining.



There were 21 cases of skin irritation and 11 cases of eye irritation during the trial, its report says.



"Mineral foundations are enjoying their 15 minutes of fame right now - despite having been around since the 1970s - and are marketed as being better for the skin than regular foundations," Choice spokeswoman Elise Davidson said in a statement on Thursday.



"But really, they're just an alternative to liquid or powder foundation, with most of the mineral foundations containing the same sort of ingredients as any other make-up base.



"Most are certainly not any more natural or pure than the alternatives."

What a day!

What a huge storm it was that hit Perth yesterday!

It knocked our lovely tree down.

This was a beautiful Chinese Elm that all the little birds used to take sanctuary from the bigger predatory birds. So sad that it is gone.

I took my Mum to the doctor the other day and I was starving so we called into a little place in Grantham Street in Wembley called Woolly Latte's.

What a perfect little place!

Free recipe..Lavender bath soak

Who doesn't love a nice warm bath filled with beautiful lavender soak?

Here is a gorgeous recipe to pamper yourself and relax after a hard day.....

Ingredients:


1 cup milk

5 tablespoons baking soda

1-2 tablespoons honey

5 drops lavender essential oil

handful lavender leaves and flowers (optional)



Place the milk in a bowl. Add the baking soda and stir to combine. Add the honey and stir to dissolve.

Add the essential oil last and mix. Some people don't like herbs and flowers floating around the tub so these are optional.

Let the mixture sit for a minute or two for the lavender scent to permeate the mixture, then add to a nice warm bath. Grab a glass of wine, a magazine, lock the door, some music to drown out the world helps, and relax!

This recipe is enough for a normal-sized tub. You can double it for a larger spa-type bath tub but be careful not to add more essential oils. Five drops is enough for just about any size bath.
